You can restore your smile with tooth colored white fillings and porcelain dental crowns. White fillings and porcelain dental crowns are restorative dentistryeffective options for filling cavities or concealing cosmetic imperfections, such as cracks, chips and discolorations on teeth. Both these restorations are tooth colored and blend in with the surrounding teeth for the most natural look possible. Dr. Francesco Maratta is your New Haven, CT dentist for white fillings and porcelain dental crowns.

White Fillings

Traditional amalgam fillings are effective at filling cavities, but since they are silver, they are readily noticeable against the teeth. White fillings are a great alternative. Since they are tooth colored, they blend in and no one will know you have fillings. White fillings are made from a resin material that can be color matched to your existing teeth. In addition to being less conspicuous, white fillings might be safer than amalgam fillings, which contain mercury and other metals. Your New Haven dentist can replace your old amalgam fillings with white ones.

Porcelain Dental Crowns

Porcelain dental crowns are caps that completely surround problem teeth that are not quite perfect. Cosmetically, crowns can conceal chips, cracks, stains and other imperfections on teeth. The porcelain material used to make dental crowns closely resembles natural tooth enamel and can be color matched to the surrounding teeth. Dental crowns can transform teeth and give them a beautiful new appearance. Once placed, porcelain dental crowns look and function just like the natural teeth they are concealing.

You do not have to settle for unattractive silver fillings or cosmetic imperfections in your smile. Instead, restore your smile with white fillings and porcelain dental crowns. To restore your smile, schedule an appointment in New Haven, CT, with Dr. Maratta by calling the office at (203) 773-1701.

Don’t let tooth loss dictate how your smile will look from here on out. Discover your options!dental implants

Are you currently in the dating game? Looking for a way to up your ante and boost your appearance? Then it may be time to put your smile under the old microscope. If you are dealing with missing teeth, chances are good you are rather embarrassed by your smile. Fortunately, our New Haven, CT, prosthodontist, Dr. Franceso Maratta, can turn all this around for you. Find out how dental implants could revamp your dating appeal.

A dental implant may not look like much of anything but this small metal post actually takes the place of your missing tooth roots. While the roots may not seem like an important component, you would be surprised just how necessary they are to a healthy smile. After all, without tooth roots the rest of your teeth will shift out of alignment to fill the gap left over by your missing tooth. Furthermore, the jawbone will also start to deteriorate, which can alter the structure of your face.

Once you are deemed a good candidate for implants the first step will be to place the implant into the jawbone. First and foremost our New Haven dental implant specialist will need to drill a small hole into the jawbone where the implant will be placed. This entire surgery can easily and painlessly be performed under local anesthesia. Once the implant is in the jawbone we will stitch the gums back up and allow your mouth ample time to heal.

During the healing process, a rather extraordinary thing will happen: the implant and the jawbone will naturally meld together to become one. This can take a few months for this to occur. Once the jawbone and implant have completely fused together, we can complete the rest of the implant procedure.

The next step is to open up the gums once more and place another structure known as an abutment over the implant. The purpose of the abutment is to be able to link the implant with the dental crown or other restorative prosthetic. If you only need to replace one tooth then a dental crown will be all that’s needed, but if you want to replace multiple teeth, several implants will be placed along the jawbone to support partial or full dentures.

Once the abutment is placed and the gums have healed we will then place the dental crown or other dental restoration over the implant to complete your new dental work.

Call our New Haven, CT, prosthodontic specialist, Dr. Maratta to discover whether you are an ideal candidate for dental implants. Tooth loss should never have the final say when it comes to your smile.

Some of the modern state-of-the-art denture treatments offered by Dr. Maratta in New Haven include:

Conventional dentures: which are a full set of teeth, either upper, lower or both arches; this type of denture is completed after your soft tissue has healed from tooth extraction and usually takes 6 to 8 weeks.

Immediate dentures: which are also a full set of teeth; this type of denture is placed immediately after tooth extraction, so you don’t have to go without teeth. After your tissue has healed completely, a more permanent conventional denture will be made for you.

Overdentures: which are placed over existing tooth roots or implants; the benefit of this type of denture is the stability of having a supporting structure underneath. Tooth roots or implants also help to preserve the bone in your jaw, making you look younger.

Partial dentures: typically called removable partials are designed to replace just a few teeth in an arch.
